Surveillance, why, how and who?
With the increasing use of the binary numeral system: 0 and 1, off/on. The continue developing of faster and cheaper technology to handle it. With the increasing communication on the internet, and the exchange of bits across the borders, which never before have been that prevalent to people.
No doubt too many "constitutional policracies, dictators and transatlantic companies" fears - too whom it became out of control.

Did you think it could get any worse? Now they want to legalize the use of propaganda on American citizens - and the vote could happen NEXT WEEK.
An amendment legalizing the use of mass propaganda campaigns on American audiences has been inserted into the latest defense authorization
bill - and that bill just passed the House.
The NDAA amendment lifts bans on propaganda that have been around since the 1940s, neutralizing laws put in place to protect the American people from its government’s own "misinformation" campaigns.

Denmark have introduced a new so called digital signature, NemID to be used by citizens communicating with government institutions, banks, and the system is also being sold to private enterprises and organizations.
It is not actually a signature because the private keys are stored not by owners of the certificates but by a company called DanID owned by Nets (Danish and Norwegian banks). Nets store the keys in hardware security modules (HSM)

ACTA is an international agreement that aims to create international standards on intellectual property rights enforcement. The title of the treaty suggests the agreement deals with counterfeit goods, such as medicines and luxury goods. However, the treaty actually has a much broader scope and will deal with tools
targeting internet distribution and information technology.

The latest attempt by Congress to try to regulate and control the Internet is no longer known as SOPA but CISPA: the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act. The SOPA-like bill would give companies the power to collect information on their subscribers and hand it over to the government and all they have to do is request it.
Kendall Burman, senior national security fellow for the Center for Democracy and Technology, joins Liz Wahl to talk about what this means for online freedoms.

Remixing is a folk art but the techniques are the same ones used at any level of creation: copy, transform, and combine. You could even say that everything is a remix.
